The Central Valley Science Project in partnership with the Science & Mathematics Education Center, Fresno State, and the Lawrence Livermore National Lab is pleased to offer a unique one-week professional development course this summer in COMPUTER MODELING & SIMULATION
This workshop is designed to provide educators with skills and tools to help prepare for both the NGSS - Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core connections. Participants will produce an interactive computer simulation of a science concept and develop skills required to teach their students how to create their own computer models.
NetLogo is a multi-agent programmable modeling environment. It is used by tens of thousands of students, teachers and researchers worldwide. It also powers HubNet participatory simulations.
Example of simulations can be seen here https://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/. Participants will meet the NGSS engineering performance standards as well as ELA CC standards with these activities.
